Titas Chowdhury of News18 also rated it 3 out of 5 stars, noting that while the film may lack a strong driving force, the performances of the main cast help prevent the script from completely unraveling.

Tanmayi Savadi of Times Now awarded the film 2.5 stars out of 5, stating that while the pre-interval segment was engaging, the second half was exhausting, with missed opportunities to elevate the story. Deepa Gahlot of Rediff.com echoed this sentiment, also giving the film 2.5 stars and commenting that it repeatedly falls short of its lofty aspirations.

A critic from Bollywood Hungama rated the film 2 out of 5 stars, criticizing it as slow and dull, with a lackluster story and a predictable climax. Lachmi Deb Roy of Firstpost also gave it 2 stars, saying that the film failed to deliver as a romantic suspense thriller, lacking the energy to keep the audience engaged. Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express rated the film 2 stars, noting that while the lead performances were enjoyable, the film’s outdated treatment and lackluster execution made it unworthy of its star pairing.

Footnote:
The title, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, literally translates to “Where Was the Courage in Others,” but the true meaning is more nuanced. It reflects the feeling of being defeated by one’s own kin, rather than by outsiders. This sentiment is captured in the Hindi couplet: हमे तो अपनों ने लूटा, गैरों में कहाँ दम था; मेरी कश्ती वहां डूबी, जहाँ पानी कम था, which expresses the pain of being betrayed by those closest to you. The filmtitle in Hindi, “औरों में कहां दम था,” movie news is a slight modification of the original couplet, emphasizing this theme of personal betrayal.
